Why Breathwork?
I spent 20 years on my own personal wellness journey searching for that “one thing” that would allow me to heal and find peace.
From a young age I never felt that I belonged and deeply wanted connection. I never felt comfortable in my own skin and struggled with my self esteem and self worth.
Growing up in the volatile region of the Middle East left me traumatized from terror attacks and fundamentalist religious beliefs. All I dreamed of is compassionate peaceful living.
I found a lot of healing through yoga, meditation and qigong but nothing has provided me the healing and direction like the breath.
Our breath is our birthright. It is the first thing we do as we enter the world and is the last thing we do when we depart. It is the essence of our life force energy and yet it is often ignored.
The breath doesn’t lie. It is a window into our physical, mental and spiritual well being. It is the ultimate connection to our minds, bodies and spirits. We can use the power of our own breath to heal, create connection, develop intuition, increase stamina and performance and let go of whatever is holding us back so we can move in to a magical future.
Below you will find a few simple breathwork practices to get started.
Reverse Breathing
In this practice we relax on the exhalation and relax on the inhalations. Here I inhale through the nose and exhale through the mouth.
Moving to the Mountains
When I closed the door behind me as we embarked on a cross country road trip, I don’t think I could have possibly imagined what this simple closing of my front door would mean a week later. We left our house trailing our small travel trailer with no destination and no end date for this…
Gratitude and Connection Breath
Take a pause and notice your breath moment to moment to create more connection with ourselves and others.
Engaging the Exhale
Take complete deep inhale and allow the exhale to release on its own. Great practice for releasing tension and letting go.
De-Reflexive Breathing
Connect to the universe through de-reflexive breathing. Use this practice for connection.
Conscious Thought using the Breath
Our thoughts create our reality. Use the breath in connection with thoughts to create our ultimate reality.
Coherent Breathing
Coherence breathing at a rate of five to six breaths a minute is great for connecting the mind to the body, relaxation, reducing anxiety and even lowering blood pressure.
Breathe For Energy
If you are in need for a bit more energy give this breathwork practice a try.
Breathe for clam and equanimity
Simple breath practice to calm down and become less reactive.
Box Breath
Great breathwork practice to create a sense of calm and clarity of mind.
